VINTAGE: Vintage Motorsport Wins IAMC’s Best Issue of the Year
Written by: Vintage Motorsport Staff
Vintage Motorsport Magazine   http://www.vintagemotorsport.com
Dearborn, MI

The best single issue of any newspaper, magazine or newsletter produced in 2008 was Vintage Motorsport' s Sept/Oct (08.5) issue, which featured an Owens-Corning L88 Corvette on the cover.
That at least, was the opinion of a panel of 30 peer judges who assessed the best automotive writing, content, and photography/design across the spectrum of automotive-oriented publications, books, radio and TV programs and the Internet for the 18th annual International Automotive Media Competition.

In addition, VM also earned three Gold Awards and one Bronze for individual articles throughout the 2008 calendar year. Gold nods for Motorsports History went to John Zimmermann's "Legendary Link," detailing Dan Gurney's success in the Arciero Bros.' Lotus 19, and Carl Goodwin's "When Sports Cars Flew at Akron Airport." Zimmermann also earned Gold in the History: Single Marque category for his two-part series "Lola Goes Golden" on the U.K. manufacturer's 50th anniversary. And the late Joe Brown earned a Bronze Award for his photographs illustrating the Akron Airport article.

Rounding out the magazine's grand slam, VM was judged the Best Magazine under 20,000
circulation, earning a Gold Award for Editor-in-Chief D. Randy Riggs.

The IAMC awards are judged by peers, to a standard, with 100 points possible. Best of Division Awards are chosen from all Gold Awards in each Division. Editor Riggs noted, "I'm absolutely pleased and proud that Vintage Motorsport was honored as the Best Single Issue from all Divisions. This is a testament to our contributors' efforts, the design talents of our Art Director David McGowan and conscientious attention to detail and facts that ensure our leadership as The Journal of Motor Racing History." The Awards were presented at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Michigan, in conjunction with the North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards.

Published bi-monthly, Vintage Motorsport is in its 27th year as the pre-eminent publication in the field of vintage racing and motorsports history. The magazine features articles and photography by notable automotive journalists and historians, with photos by the top motorsport photographers from many racing eras, including today's.
