The iconic cars of the late Carroll Shelby were always among the prize attractions at Barrett-Jackson Collector-Car Events.

Shelby himself had a close relationship with the auction company and was a frequent guest at Barrett-Jackson events. In fact, his personal 1966 Cobra, known as the Super Snake, was the most expensive car to ever sell at any Barrett-Jackson auction, changing hands for $5.5 million, including buyer’s premium, at Scottsdale in 2007.

Following are the 10 highest Barrett-Jackson Cobra sales:

1. 1966 SHELBY COBRA 427 SUPER SNAKE, $5.5 million — The unquestioned king of the Cobras was Shelby’s personal 1966 427 Super Snake, which had a supercharged big-block motor capable of pushing it to speeds in excess of 180 miles per hour.
