A pair of one-off, V12-powered cars originally coachbuilt for Belgian royalty were shown at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

One of the many great sights at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance was a pair of unique Ferraris lined up side by side that had both been commissioned by the Belgian royal family.

Ordered for King Leopold was this 375 Plus Pinin Farina Cabriolet. It shares its underpinnings with Ferrari's 1954 Le Mans winner and is the only one of eight chassis produced that received a luxurious, road-going body. Power comes from a formidable 5-liter V12 engine that pumps out well over 300 horsepower.

The one-off body is crafted by Pinin Farina and combines classic elegance with modern cues that would later appear on production Ferraris, such as the covered headlights.

Owned by the same collector since 1969, it is only very rarely seen in public. It starred at Pebble Beach after a full restoration and was very well-received, winning the Best in Class award and the Enzo Ferrari Trophy. You can judge the result by yourself by going through our 12-shot gallery of this spectacular machine.

Of slightly earlier vintage is the 250 Europa GT Vignale Coupe, which was first owned by Belgian's Princess Liliane de Rethy. This striking one-off machine was the second-ever 250 GT produced and the penultimate Ferrari clothed by Vignale.

Combining a two-tone finish and remarkably understated lines, it is more elegant than most Vignale-bodied Ferraris of the period, and includes a wrap-around Corvette windscreen; the only real “frolics” are small fins on the rear fenders.

Following its Belgian royal ownership, the car spent many years in the United States until joining the collection of Dutch Ferrari importer Frits Kroymans in 1989. The current owner acquired the Vignale Coupe recently and had it completely restored ahead of bringing it to Pebble Beach.

As can be seen in our 12-shot gallery, he also exercised the car during the Tour d'Elegance.
