Vintage racing is an integral part of Road America’s business, and it continues to grow in driver participation, drawing an incredible variety of legendary cars to the historic circuit.

Spring Vintage Weekend, May 13-15, returns as the track’s traditional season opener. It will be coordinated by Road America in partnership with the Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association (VSCDA); Carl Jensen, Race Director; Jack Woehrle, Chief of Tech; and Susan Wright, Registrar. George Bruggenthies, track president, anticipates a record number of entries and spectators.

“We’ve hosted this event for many years, and it continues to grow,” Bruggenthies said. “Participants value the high-quality racing, the integrity of the competition and the preservation of incredible racing machines.”

He also noted the significant appeal of the Elkhart Lake area and its long history of providing off-track hospitality for race fans.

The Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman, July 14-17, will feature Historic Grand Prix, a Carl Haas Porsche 356 Challenge, Historic Trans-Am, and the North American E-Type Challenge. The popular Road & Track Concours d’Elegance will also be held in downtown Elkhart Lake on Friday and Saturday evenings, with final awards presented on Sunday at the track.

In an effort to recognize the significant presence of active competition models, race-car concours entries will be limited to cars also entered in race groups. Historic CAN-AM, a rotating feature at the July event, will be a highlight of this year’s Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival, September 9-11. An impressive field of cars is expected to gather in celebration of CAN-AM’s 45th Anniversary.

Vintage and historic Corvette owners are also encouraged to participate in Road America’s Corvette World Tribute on Sunday, August 21, 2011. The Corvette-only day will include track time for autocross, racing, touring, and lapping HPDX; a Concours with pro and popular judging; special guests and presentations; and a vendor marketplace. All racers, performance enthusiasts, collectors, hobbyists and fans are invited to participate.

Leading into the Corvette World Tribute is the American Le Mans Series, which returns to a four-hour race format, Saturday, August 20. During the full event schedule, August 18-20, Corvette enthusiasts can support the Corvette Racing team, and participate in the Corvette Corral, tech talks, autograph sessions and fan forums. Road America is managing participant event registration.

Registration is open for the Spring Vintage Weekend, the Kohler International Challenge, and the Corvette World Tribute through Road America, online under competitor information at www.roadamerica.com or by calling 800/365-7223.
