Among the exceptional high-performance sports cars from Dutch automaker Spyker is this rare model, the 2009 Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 Special Edition (Lot #5017), coming up for auction this week at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.

Built to celebrate Spyker’s Le Mans heritage, the look of the two-door coupe is reminiscent of the company’s GT2 race car, but it is equipped with the full range of luxury features expected in a modern, high-end road car.

The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 offered at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale is No. 3 of 24 produced worldwide, which represents the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Power from the 400 horsepower twin-turbocharged V8 sourced from Audi gives this lightweight, all-aluminum coupe startling acceleration

The Laviolette comes in the model’s signature Burnt Almond Orange paint scheme with gray-painted “S” accents on the front and rear. The car features AP racing brakes, Koni F1 shocks with Eibach springs and center-lock wheels, a rear spoiler and black Aeroblade wheels.

Spyker Cars was reborn in 2000 with the name of a pioneering Dutch automaker that had merged with an aircraft company in 1914, thus the propeller prominently featured on today’s Spyker logo. The name Laviolette for the automaker’s coupe models is also founded in history: It’s the name of the engineer who created the 1903 Spyker, which the automaker says was the first car ever with six cylinders and four-wheel drive.
