A 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spyder reached a resounding record price at RM Auction’s Monaco sale this weekend, selling for just under $6.5 million to top a two-day auction that saw $43,410,615 in rare collector cars change hands.

Ninety cars were offered in the second year of the RM event, with 87 percent of the lots sold. Ferraris dominated the results, and 10 “blue chip automobiles” sold for more than 1 million euro ($1.28 million), with four of them exceeding 2 million euro ($2.57 million). Also auctioned was a collection of 100 Ducati racing motorcycles and three exotic boats.

The Scaglietti-designed Ferrari 625 TRC is one of just two built, powered by a 320-horsepower V12, and offered for the first time in 30 years.

It was followed in the sales results by two other significant Ferraris, a 1966 206 S Dino Spyder by Carrozzeria, one of just 18 built, and a 1952 Ferrari 225 Sport Spyder “Tuboscocca,” one of 12 Vignale Spyders produced, each of which sold for just over $3.2 million.

One of the most high-profile items in the RM sale was the 1953 Timossi-Ferrari “Arno XI” Racing Hydroplane, a performance boat powered by a Ferrari V12, which went for $1.1 million.

A pair of highly coveted Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 sports racing cars sold at record prices, with a 1969 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3 Sports Racer built and raced by Autodelta reaching $1.58 million and the ex-Nino Vaccarella, Teodoro Zeccoli 1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 “Daytona” achieved $1.3 million.
