Jaguar has a big weekend coming up in Monterey, Calif., where the 50th anniversary of the E-Type is being celebrated at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 21 and Jaguar is again the featured marque at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, Aug. 19-21.

The British automaker is making the most of the honors with a series of special displays and events that represent the past, present and future of the storied brand, including Jaguar's acclaimed C-X75 hybrid concept supercar on the grass at Pebble Beach and a display of 24 C- and D-type sports-racing cars from the 1950s at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

C-X75 was introduced to the U.S. media in November during a special event in Jay Leno's massive collector-car garage, where it stood with two earlier Jaguar sports cars, an XK120 and an XK-E. (Photo: Bob Golfen)
Jaguar will present opportunities for guests to sample the automaker’s latest vehicles, including the new 550-horsepower XKR-S, at the Motorsports Reunion, The Quail Motorsports Gathering and on Peter Hay Hill at The Lodge on Pebble Beach.

"The Pebble Beach Automotive Weekend is one of the most celebrated gatherings of automotive aficionados from around the world, and Jaguar will have a major presence there," said David Pryor, Brand Vice President, Jaguar North America.

Highlights of Jaguar’s participation in the Pebble Beach Automotive Weekend include:

Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion – For a third time, Jaguar is the featured marque at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion from Aug. 19 to 21 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – the brand was a featured marque in 1976 and 1992. A special display at the Yamaha Exhibition will feature an unprecedented review of great Jaguar race cars through the past 75 years.

The Jaguar Invitation Class E-Type Race happens Aug. 20 from 1 p.m. to 1:20 p.m., where the winner will walk away with a specially designed trophy by Jaguar Cars design director Ian Callum, which will be awarded on Sunday.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Thursday Night Kick-Off Party – For the third consecutive year, Jaguar is hosting the Thursday night Pebble Beach kick-off party to be held Aug. 18 at the Beach and Tennis Club. This year's celebration will mark the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type. Known in North America as the XK-E, the iconic sports car was introduced to the world at the 1961 Geneva auto show. Jaguar's XF, XK and XJ models will be on display alongside a spectacular collection of Jaguar E-Type cars.

The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering – Jaguar will again have its full, current model lineup on display along with a collection of E-Type cars. Guests are offered ride-and-drive opportunities in current model vehicles.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Concept Lawn – Jaguar’s stunning Jaguar C-X75 hybrid concept supercar will be on display Aug. 20-21. Jaguar Cars design team unveiled the impressive concept car last year at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, and it has since received numerous accolades including the most significant concept vehicle of 2011 by the North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards. Jaguar has since announced plans to launch the C-X75 as an exclusive hybrid supercar.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance – To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type, designed by Malcolm Sayer, there are four E-Type vehicles entered in various classes including the Postwar Preservation Class, Postwar Sports Closed Class and Postwar Sports Open Class, among others.
