RKMs Collector Car Auctions will conduct a sale of more than 150 vintage, muscle and high-performance cars at the Pinehurst Fair Barn on May 4 as part of the inaugural Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance weekend in North Carolina.

“We were drawn to the idea of a Concours event coming to our region,” said Jamie Wiehe, director of auctions or the Charlotte-based RK Motors. “And after visiting Pinehurst for the first time, it became clear the resort would be a perfect venue for a collector-car auction. We’re looking forward to making this a memorable weekend.”

Those interested in selling or bidding can submit their information through the RKM Collector Car Auctions website, rkmotorscharlotte.com. For fans who simply want to enjoy the atmosphere of a live sale, general-admission tickets are available for $25, with discounts for seniors, students, military and children.

“The classic-car auction hosted by RKM Collector Car Auctions on May 4 is a great addition to this unprecedented weekend in North Carolina automobile history, and a fitting prelude to the Pinehurst Concours on Sunday,” said Jay Howard, executive director of the inaugural event.

The auction will be held at the historic Pinehurst Resort Fair Barn, a National Historic Landmark recognized as the oldest surviving early-20th century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina, offering a unique atmosphere for bidders and fans. North Carolina businessman and Porsche collector Bob Ingram is serving as the honorary chairman of the Pinehurst Concours.

RKM Collector Car Auctions is a sister company of RK Motors, a leading retailer and restorer of investment-grade collector cars. The 2013 Pinehurst auction is open to dealers and private collectors from around the world, according to Wiehe.

The auction will precede the May 5 inaugural Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance. General-admission tickets and VIP packages are on sale now for this showcase competition of vintage and rare automobiles to be displayed on the famed Pinehurst Resort fairways. Log on to pinehurstconcours.com for details and ticketing information.

For hotel reservations, call Pinehurst Resort at (888) 894-4572 and ask for the Concours rate.
