As is always the case at every Barrett-Jackson Collector Car event, charity cars are a central component of the action, and Saturday at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas was no exception.

In the middle of the afternoon, a vintage two-tone 1955 Chevrolet with less than 8,600 original miles was auctioned off to benefit two charities: The TGen Foundation and the Festival of Hope, two organizations that help the fight against cancer.

When bidding stalled at $50,000, a number of other bidders combined to donate an additional $50,000, some in increments as small as $1,000.

Likewise, a custom 1970 Chevrolet Nova was sold for $75,000 to benefit The Mission Continues charity for the benefit of U.S. veterans. Once again, bidders contributed to the cause, donating more than $50,000 more to go to the veterans, raising the total to in excess of $125,000.

The donations by countless individuals was an emotional high point of the day’s early action.
