National Collector Car Appreciation Day, a special event spearheaded by the SEMA Action Network and declared by the U.S. Senate, happens again today. And hopefully, it being Friday the 13th won’t scare off too many vintage-car enthusiasts.

This is the third year for the official day to celebrate more than a century of motoring heritage, and all around the country, car cruise-ins, parades, club events and other happenings have been set for Friday and throughout the weekend. For SEMA’s listings of events, see Collector Car Day.

But even if you’re not taking part in an organized event, be sure to get your automotive relic out of the garage and drive it, if only to commute to work. Whether it’s a Ford or a Ferrari, just make sure that everyone can see that you’re an old-car enthusiast, preserving a piece of the past for those in the future to appreciate.
