May 9, 2008 - The Bridgehampton Historical Society announces that its annual Classic Car Weekend will take place on September 26-28, 2008.
This three day event will include a Friday gathering and registration, Road Rally and Tour Saturday and Sunday Car Show on the BHHS grounds at 2368 Montauk Highway. The length of this year’s Road Rally and Tour route will be approximately 100 miles.
Cars built 1959 and earlier are eligible to participate in the rally. Cars built 1969 and earlier may participate in the tour. The car show admits all cars of distinction.
Entry fees are $250 for the rally or tour, $15 for the car show. All profits benefit The Bridgehampton Historical Society. More information and applications are available at www.bridgehamptonrally.org.

September 27th The Rally, Classic Car Tour & Awards Ceremony 10:00
September 28th Car Show 10:00 AM Show opens. Open to the public, admission $5. Children under 12 free. 3:00 PM Show closes.
The Road Rally commemorates a racing history that goes back to 1915 when local firemen sponsored street racing as part of their summer carnival. From 1949 to 1953, European race cars reached speeds of over 100 miles an hour on local roads. In 1957 the Bridgehampton Race Circuit opened on 500 acres off Millstone Road. “The Bridge” hosted international race stars including Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney and Richard Petty.
