From cars perfectly suited for beach driving to those beloved by special guest Jay Leno, host Alonzo Bodden turns his humor on all things automotive with a comedic look at history’s famous and not-so-famous automobiles.
Beginning at 3 p.m. ET, SPEED will air nine back-to-back episodes of 101 Cars You Must Drive, followed by the summer’s final new episode at 9 p.m. ET.
Episode descriptions are as follows:
3 p.m. – “The Bird is the Word” - Four wheeled "birds" include the Studebaker Golden Hawk, Plymouth Superbird, Ford Thunderbird and the Aerocar, a car that actually flies
3:30 p.m. – “I’m Just Here for the Sex” - Bodden takes some sexy (Alfa Romeo Spyder) and not-so-sexy (Citroen 2CV) cars on the road
4 p.m. – “A Lot of Pulp But No Fiction” – Bodden takes a couple of cars (Acura NSX, Chevrolet Nova) featured in the film Pulp Fiction for a spin
4:30 p.m. – “A Bit of All Right” - Britain's MG-A, the "everyman's" sports car, and the Sunbeam Tiger, a British sports car by Plymouth with a Ford V8
5 p.m. – “Bond, Blowers, Buicks, etc.” – Bodden and guest Jay Leno drive an Aston Martin, a Blower Bentley and an '87 Buick Grand National
5:30 p.m. – “Party Over Where? Party Over Here!” - Bodden takes on some big cars, the
6 p.m. – “Keeping It in the Family” – The Edsel and Ferrari Dino were named after sons of the company heads
6:30 p.m. – “Playin’ in the Dirt” - Bodden samples the Meyers Manx, a perfect car for the beach or the Baja 1000
7 p.m. – “Wankels and Wankers” - Mazda's rotary engine RX-8, the Checker Marathon and the Austin 7 London taxi get the once-over from Bodden
9 p.m. (NEW) – “Street Racing Then and Now” - From American Graffiti's '32 Ford and '55 Chevy to Gen X's Honda Civic CVCC
