The 42nd annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Event, the first of four set for live coverage in 2013, kicks off the auction season in grand style as some of the world’s most sought-after machines cross the block starting Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.

SPEED is providing 39 hours of live coverage over six consecutive days from Westworld of Scottsdale, adding to an event and auction that’s not only considered one of the most significant within the collector-car marketplace but throughout the automotive industry as well.

As with every Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event on SPEED, viewers have multiple interactive entry points, headlined by the Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game which is once again offering a powerful giveaway – a one-of-one, specially modified 2013 Ford Shelby Mustang GT-500 – a car the winner receives free and clear of any additional taxes.

The Hagerty Fantasy Bid Game challenges contestants to guess the final gavel price of selected collector cars without going over. Fantasy Bidding smashed all records last year with more than one million cast during the competition.

In addition to fantasy bidding, viewers can interact directly with the show’s on-air personalities and industry experts via the SPEED Social Garage. To participate and interact with the show’s on-air personalities or industry experts, log on through Facebook, and follow via Twitter at the @BarrettonSPEED handle; joining the conversation at the ‘#BJA2013’ hash tag.

“Incredibly excited about this year’s auction, as the docket is outstanding,” said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production, Network Operations and Barrett-Jackson Executive Producer. “After last year’s inaugural Salon offering, it’s clear that Barrett-Jackson has stepped up their game once again.

“SPEED is once again providing our multi-platform coverage from Tuesday to Sunday,” Miner added. “In what is clearly the World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction.”

Anchoring the 2013 edition is Barrett-Jackson voice Bob Varsha, who leads the proceedings with color commentary from distinguished automotive author Matt Stone. On the auction block are the familiar ruminations of collector car experts Mike Joy, who’s also the Voice of NASCAR on FOX, and freelance automotive writer, Steve Magnante.

Covering the auction grounds and previewing Hagerty Fantasy Bid vehicles are Arizona car enthusiast Rick DeBruhl and automotive and motorsports experts Justin Bell and Ralph Sheheen. In addition, April Rose answers viewer questions, shoots in-show features and interacts within the SPEED Social Garage throughout the week.

In addition to all of the interactive coverage from the event, SPEED.com Editor-in-Chief Tom Jensen and Automotive Editor Bob Golfen are providing daily storylines, photo galleries, interviews, behind-the-scene features and videos from the auction grounds.
