Imagine if you were a race car driver – say Justin Bell or Townsend Bell – and were given the opportunity to drive a high-performance vehicle on your favorite stretch of road. Miles of pavement, shut down by local law enforcement, just for your driving pleasure.

Welcome to SPEED’s version of a car enthusiast’s dream, Shut Up And Drive! premiering tonight at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT.

The inaugural episode hosted by the two enthusiasts of speed, Justin Bell and Townsend Bell (who are not related), takes on Northern Oregon’s challenging Rowena Loops in a brand-new Lexus GS Sports Sedan. And in one last ode to driving junkies everywhere, yes, they do find out who’s the quickest.

Justin, whose father is sports-car racing legend Derek Bell, is an accomplished professional sports-car driver in his own right and reporter for SPEED’s live Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction coverage and the most recent Rolex 24 at Daytona. Townsend, 36, is a former Formula One test driver for BAR/Honda and Jaguar, along with being an Indy Car Series pilot with highlights that include a fourth-place finish in the 2009 Indianapolis 500.

“Townsend Bell is an insanely good driver,” Justin Bell said. “This show is going to be a lot of fun. Who wouldn’t want to drive a great car, and take on these great roads? It does take quite a bit to get the local authorities to close these roads, but when they do, ‘Wow.’”

“What a blast. Two guys. One road. And a battle to see who's fastest,” Townsend Bell added. “We had a lot of fun shooting this and hope the viewers enjoy it as much as we did. Here's to less talking and more driving.”
