AUTOCOURSE’s tagline says it best: “The World’s Leading Grand Prix Annual.” There is good reason that the 2008-2009 edition represents the 58th year of publication. What an amazing retrospective on the incredible 2008 Formula One season. If you have not yet made it a habit to add this annual to your motorsports library, now would be the time. It is an amazing resource and can settle F1 trivia contests and pub wagers.

The cover photograph shows Lewis Hamilton masterfully maneuvering his McLaren Mercedes. The cutline states: “Lewis Hamilton became the sports youngest-ever World Champion at just 23 years, 9 months and 26 days.”

Lewis himself wrote the Foreword and reveals:

“Winning the 2008 FIA Formula 1 world championship has been the single greatest achievement of my entire life. And if you’d told me at the start of the season that I would only secure the world championship on the final corner of the final lap of the final race, I wouldn’t have believed it.”

This book documents the entire amazing season under the editorial excellence of Alan Henry whose introduction labels the 2008 Championship “A Season to Relish.” Henry concludes his overview with the following:

“In the dash for constant commercial growth, F1’s overlord, Bernie Ecclestone, continues to display an energy that is matched only by his business audacity. Like a runaway train fuelled by wads of dollar bills, it continues to surprise, delight and frustrate in pretty much equal measure.”
