Popular comic and car enthusiast Jay Leno will make a guest appearance on the July 28 episode of 101 Cars You Must Drive with Alonzo Bodden on SPEED at 9 p.m. ET.
Leno, a car aficionado, and Bodden test drive and discuss the various automobiles featured in Monday’s episode, including an Aston Martin (James Bond’s car in Thunderball), 1928 Bentley 4.5 (Bond’s first car), ’87 Buick Grand National (fastest “blower” car in U.S.), ’50 Buick LeSabre (Harley Earl’s definitive Buick) and a C6R-S Corvette (Leno owns first one ever made).
Bodden, a former jet mechanic who worked on the Stealth Fighter, is a car and motorcycle collector and has in his garage what he calls his “Jay Leno Starter Set.” On 101 Cars You Must Drive, he turns his humor on all things automotive with a comedic look at history’s famous and not-so-famous automobiles.
"Jay asked me if I wanted to buy one of the $250,000 Corvettes we were test-driving,” Bodden said. “I reminded him there is a big difference between The Tonight Show and 101 Cars You Must Drive ... money! Jay's on a major network and I am on cable."
Bodden was most appreciative of Leno for
"I want to thank Jay,” Bodden quipped. “Not only is his show bigger than mine but he can also drive faster than me. Well, Jay, I can dunk!”
101 Cars You Must Drive, scheduled for 10 30-minute, high-definition episodes, is based on the popular book 365 Cars You Must Drive, written by Motor Trend magazine executive editor Matt Stone and automotive journalist John Matras. The show airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET through Sept. 1.
