With so much experience and expertise running equal-car racing championships -- more than three decades -- and its recent partnership with Mazda, it was a natural for Skip Barber Racing to respond to drivers' requests to create and run a championship using one of Mazda's iconic sports car, the MX-5 Miata. Thus, the new-for-2008 Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge Race Series. Hundreds of drivers take part in exciting, fun and hassle-free sports car racing at dozens of North America's finest race tracks. The Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Challenge Race Series is specifically designed to be financially and geographically accessible.

"Each MAZDASPEED Challenge MX-5 Cup car is built by the Skip Barber team, with specifications closely matched to the Miatas used in the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup Series. Skip Barber professionals conduct all the testing and equalization.

"The drivers in the Race Series are men and women between 15 and 65 years old who love motorsport and have found a tremendously fun, worry-free way to race, as a hobby or avocation. The mix of equal cars, the arrive-and-drive format (Skip Barber brings everything, from the cars to the racing suits) and the fantastic camaraderie make this series very appealing. Competitors can do just one Race Weekend -- or as many as they like.

"There are eligibility requirements, but graduates of the Skip Barber Three Day Racing School (formula car or the MAZDASPEED Challenge MX-5 Cup car school) or another recognized competition course, are only a few ''Advanced
Activities'' away from taking their first green flag."
