San Diego. Calif.
Set against the stunning backdrop of San Diego Bay, the Coronado Speed Festival – a Fleet Week San Diego event – will feature auto racing for car enthusiasts of all ages at one of the most distinctive racecar locations – Naval Air Station North Island, the birthplace of Naval Aviation. In addition to the vintage racecars, chosen to compete on the basis of their historical significance and certified authenticity, you will be able to see top racecars from today including NASCAR, hot rod, Trans-Am and many more.
Each year the Coronado Speed Festival proves to be bigger and better. Don’t miss all that is going on at this year’s event. Unlike any other event, you will have the opportunity to:
• Watch over 200 of the world’s most unique and pedigreed machines race around the track
• Step back in time to enjoy auto racing’s rich history with tours of the racecar pits and interviews with drivers
• Visit the car corral, which shows off a variety of automobiles that range in age, model and make
• Purchase racing equipment and accessories in vendor village
•
See a multitude of current Navy jets and helicopters, special boats and hovercraft, as well as vintage aircraft and step aboard these massive and historical machines
• And new to this year is a drifting exhibition by Drift Circuit during the noontime activities!
The Coronado Speed Festival is produced by the Fleet Week San Diego Foundation and hosted by the Naval Base Coronado and the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Program (MWR) which benefits military personnel and their families. They in turn provide positive support for the active duty military community and their families through Quality of Life Programs including single Sailor Recreation Centers, Fitness and Aquatic Facilities and the Base Theatre Free Movies. The Southern California community is given this unbelievable opportunity to thank the men and women defending our freedom in person.
Advance purchase general admission tickets are available on the Fleet Week Website (www.fleetweeksandiego.org – $25 one day and $35 for both days. Tickets will also be available at the venue ($35 for one day and $45 for both days). Children 12 and under are free with paid adult admission.
