AUTOS: Spyker Sports Cars To Sell At Saab Stores
The new owner of the Swedish automaker plans to market its supercars at Saab dealerships.

Saab dealerships will soon have high-performance Spyker sports cars in their showrooms, according to a Bloomberg news report.

That’s the plan presented by Victor Muller, CEO of Dutch supercar builder Spyker Cars, which bought Saab Automobiles from General Motors in February.

The move would nearly double the number of dealers for the $215,000 C8 Aileron sports car, Muller told Bloomberg, boosting its network to about 90 by the end of 2011.

The all-aluminum Aileron is one of the most-aggressive supercars in production, powered by a 400-horsepower V8 and capable of reaching 185 miles per hour with a zero-62 mph time of 4.5 seconds. It’s available as a coupe or convertible.

Spyker sold just 36 sports cars during 2010, and the hope is that the added dealership exposure will help the company sell more cars and raise profitability.

Muller said that Spyker is tapping into Saab’s engineering and parts resources for the revamped Aileron, which was unveiled in March.
