The sound system is the main selling point of the Fender Edition, which uses proprietary Panasonic speaker technology and dual-voice speakers that VW says reproduce the sound of a live performance. The system consists of a 10-channel, 400-watt amplifier with four Fender tweeters, two Fender Twin speakers, two Fender rears and a Bassman subwoofer.

Other unique pieces include Fender badges on the front fenders and special dashboard, black metallic paint and chrome mirrors.

The Fender Edition comes as a base model Beetle and sunroof package with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower with either five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, or the 2-liter turbocharged TSI engine with 200 horsepower with six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The Beetle Fender Edition is priced at $25,235, including $795 destination That's only $370 more than last year's special edition. The 2.0-liter Fender Edition starts at $28,925. The special models will hit dealerships this month.
