Subaru Impreza WRX gets the widebody look for 2011, with wider, flared wheel arches, new front and rear bumpers and grille, wider front and rear track, and wider tires.

The performance compact, which also features a revised Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, will be unveiled April 1 at the New York International Auto Show. While the new WRX adopts the look of the aggressive STI version, normally aspirated Imprezas will retain the current sedan and hatch body design.

"This new look gives the iconic Impreza WRX even greater presence in a package which has already won accolades for its turbocharged Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive ability,” said Nick Senior, managing director of Subaru Australia.

"This design further distinguishes our turbo Impreza variants, including the Impreza WRX STI, from the normally aspirated versions, which we're sure will please the many loyal WRX fans out there."

The new WRX, which goes on sale this summer, retains the 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four engine, which generates 265 horsepower and 244 lb-ft of torque.
