The U.S. Senate has passed Resolution 452 designating July 13 as the third annual national celebration of Collector Car Appreciation Day.

The resolution, requested by Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization and Hot Rod Industry Alliance councils, is designed to celebrate and raise awareness of the role that vintage-car restoration and collection plays in our society.

It’s also a great excuse to get your collector car out on the road and for car clubs across the country to stage events on that Friday and during the following weekend.

Last year, a number of states, cities and two Canadian provinces joined in proclaiming Collector Car Appreciation Day. Several states have already begun the process of declaring their own collector-car days.

“On July 13, 2012, collectors and enthusiasts will host hundreds of events across the country,” said Laura Bergan, chairman of SEMA’s Automotive Restoration Market Organization Council. “We will again proudly partner with individuals, car clubs and businesses as they organize car cruises, club gatherings and other educational events to celebrate the day.”

The SEMA Action Network is maintaining a list of scheduled events being held for Collector Car Appreciation Day, which can be found www.semasan.com.

Individuals, car clubs and business owners can publicize their events by contacting SAN director Colby Martin at 909/978-6721 or at san@sema.org. The official logo and flyer are available for download from the homepage.
