AUTOS: New Grand Cherokee Revealed

Chrysler Group has released photos of the all-new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee that goes on sale in mid-June, a critical launch of the first new product since emerging from bankruptcy and joining with Fiat.

A celebration of the beginning of production for the new Jeep at Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit happens Friday with CEO Sergio Marchionne and Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm joining other leaders from government, Chrysler and the UAW, along with employees of the plant.

The new Grand Cherokee shows refinements in its styling and boasts a choice of three 4x4 systems, new Jeep Quadra-Lift Air Suspension and Selec-Terrain systems and maximum towing capability of 7,400 pounds.

The all-new 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 serves as the base engine with an 11 percent improvement in fuel economy and delivers up to 23 mpg and more than 500 miles on one tank of gas. V8 performance is also available.

The base Grand Cherokee two-wheel-drive Laredo starts at an MSRP $30,995, $495 lower than the outgoing model. Laredo four-wheel-drive models start at $32,995, $465 lower than the outgoing version.
