Maserati is replacing its aging GranTurismo S with a new GranTurismo Sport, which will debut next month at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The car is essentially the coupe version of the equally stunning GranTurismo Convertible Sport launched last year and packs the same 460-horsepower 4.7-liter V8.

Visually setting the car apart from the current GranTurismo lineup are new, aerodynamically enhanced bumpers, revised headlights with LED detailing and darkened tail-lamp elements. The cabin also receives new seats and a sports steering wheel.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF six-speed automatic transmission or an optional sequential manual unit with the same number of gears. Both units also come with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, though they are an option on the automatic.

In the lighter coupe body of the GranTurismo Sport, either drivetrain promises 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 5 seconds and a top speed in excess of 177 mph. Final numbers will be confirmed closer to the car’s Geneva debut.
