The SEMA show in Las Vegas is known for the quirky and unusual, but Kia took that a step farther, revealing a handful of cars customized with a superheroes theme.

Kia rolled out a Koup styled like the Flash, a Soul designed with a Green Lantern appearance, an Aquaman Rio and a Cyborg Forte. They were fortified with a Batman Optima shown earlier to round out the Justice League theme. Three more superheroes cars will be revealed at other auto shows.

The cars have artwork from famous DC Comics artist Jason Lee. Kia is working with DC Entertainment on a campaign to raise awareness about hunger issues in Africa.

The custom rides also offer examples of ways to tune Kias, said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing and communications.

"These vehicles just scream: accessorize me," he said. "What we want to do is just showcase … think differently about our vehicles."

West Coast Customs went to work on two particularly extravagant cars, the Flash Koup and the Aquaman Rio. The Koup has a bright red, yellow and range paint job with 20-inch wheels and a coil-over suspension. The Rio had a two-tone green-and-yellow paint scheme complete with fish-like scales and a body lighting kit.
