When money is no object but performance is, here’s a list of the hottest sports cars of 2012:

Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is rated at 1,183 horsepower from its W16 engine and holds the production-car speed record at 267 mph.

Hennessey Venom GT2, a modified Lotus Exige powered by a twin-turbo Corvette V8 that reaches 1,500-horsepower.

Koenigsegg Agera R, sculpted of carbon fiber with 1,140 horsepower from its twin-turbo V8 and priced at $1.5 million.

Aston Martin One-77, with just 77 built, powered by a 750-horsepower V12 and priced at a fairly exclusive $1,850,000.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta is the fastest road-going Ferrari ever, rated at 731 horsepower.

Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, the Italian bull’s latest supercar, gets 691 horsepower from its V12.

Shelby GT500, which made everyone sit up and take notice when it was officially rated at 662 horsepower.

SRT Viper, the highly anticipated update of the American supercar, powered by a 640-horsepower V10.

Chevy Corvette ZR1, which gets 638 horsepower from its 6.2-liter supercharged V8.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, a special performance edition of the gullwing supercar, boosted to 622 horsepower.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a track-ready version of the rear-engine sports car, has 620 horsepower and a curb weight of 3,000 pounds.

Lexus LFA Nurburgring, lightened with carbon fiber and boosted to 571 horsepower.
