One of our regular features during SPEED.com’s coverage of Barrett-Jackson Collector-Car Auctions is our Five To Watch, a selection of cars that will be rolling across the auction block today.

How are the Five To Watch cars chosen? Through a highly unscientific method: They have to be interesting. Not necessarily the most expensive or most exotic, but vehicles our team finds inherent interest in. And so, here are our Five To Watch from Friday at Barrett-Jackson Orange County.

LOT 30, 1932 Ford Rat Rod — Rat Rods — eclectic hot rods that are mechanically up to snuff but look decrepit — are one of the hottest segments of the collector-car market right now. And this one has all the goods, including a 390 V-8 and automatic transmission from a 1969 Ford, custom suspension and a host of trick parts. A righteous looking ride.

LOT 30.2, 1974 Ford Bronco — When vintage pickup trucks took off a few years ago, it makes sense that older SUVs would follow suit, and the mid-1970s are drawing a lot of interest. This 302 V-8 Bronco has been restored to stock condition, which is what collectors are looking for. This one is very clean and should command good money.

LOT 42.1, 1963 Porsche 356B — SPEED.com Autos Editor Bob Golfen is a Porsche 356 owner himself, so this seemed like a good choice to make our list. A two-owner car, it has spent its entire life in Arizona. It comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and the all-important matching numbers motor with upgrades. Rare Smyrna Green paint.

LOT 64.2, 1963 Corvette roadster — Eat your heart out, Prince. This Little Red Corvette rocks. Truly a fantastic car, this 1963 Corvette Sting Ray convertible was built in St. Louis on Nov. 22, 1962, and over the course of its life has been driven only 25,979 original miles. The car has been completely restored and shows excellent. Comes with a matching numbers 327/250 horsepower engine an 4-speed.

LOT 3700, 1959 Oldsmobile 98 convertible — The 1959 model year was the high-water mark for excess at General Motors, and this top-of-the-line — and over the top — red and white Olds 98 convertible makes a bold visual statement inside and out. No expense spared on this restoration from the Dee Elias Collection.
