A light and faster Ferrari California will debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show, the Italian automaker has revealed, with a freshened look for the retractable-hardtop convertible.

The 4.3-liter V8 goes up 30 horsepower to 490 with 372 pound-feet of torque, gained primarily via new exhaust manifolds and improved engine mapping. The California also loses 66 pounds through “cutting-edge aluminum fabrication techniques and construction technologies,” the company says.

The result is an exotic-looking touring car that can sprint to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds.

An optional Handling Speciale package sharpens the car’s handling prowess with a tuned suspension featuring Magnetorheological shock absorbers controlled by patented Ferrari software that boosts response time for faster reactions and minimal body roll.

Ferrari has also added a new steering box for faster turn-in and a 10 percent quicker steering ratio than the current model.

The new California will be available later this year with sales starting in Europe. Pricing has not yet been announced.
