The uncontested star of the Los Angeles Auto Show is a concept car from Jaguar that blends superb styling with a unique and highly advanced electric propulsion system.

The C-X75 attracted a crowd throughout the press days at the LA show, the constant subject of thousands of photographs as it hunkered gorgeously in the Jaguar display.

But the Jag concept is not the only imaginative head turner at this week’s Los Angeles show, which has attracted enough attention this year to rate as one of the world’s top auto-show venues.

Cadillac showed a quirky urban vehicle that was at once a departure for the General Motors luxury brand and a stylistic confirmation of its current trends. With its soaring scissor doors, sharply defined profile and clean roof, it is an appealing affirmation of a confident Cadillac.

Mazda revealed for the first time its Shinari concept, a sleek and curvaceously sculpted sedan that the company says demonstrates its new design language. In other words, watch for these styling cues to show up on future Mazda products.

Other concept-car favorites at the LA Auto Show, which opens to the public Nov. 19, include:

• Audi Quattro
• Kia Pop
• Nissan Ellure
• Subaru Impreza coupe
