SRT and Mopar unveiled comedian Jeff Dunham's 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, part of Mopar's 75th anniversary celebration and dubbed Project UltraViolet.

Dunham is a gearhead, and he has a special penchant for Mopar products. The comic/puppeteer recently bought a numbers-matching, four-speed 1970 Barracuda for his own garage.

Palmer's Customs, Mark Trostle of SRT and Dunham worked together on the car.

The Challenger gets a Mopar T/A functioning hood scoop, which sucks air into a Mopar 426 crate engine with an output of 515 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of twist. The project also took advantage of Mopar's relationship with Arrington Engines, which currently makes Mopar-authorized performance parts for select 2011, 2012 and 2013 Chrysler vehicles.

The vehicle was lowered an inch and 22-inch HRE wheels were installed. The rear end is wider with larger wheel flares. Handmade parts include the rear diffuser, dive planes, front splitter, rocker panels and a handful of other items, including the exhaust. The bumper was also modified as was the grille.

Inside, Project UltraViolet gets napa leather with color-matching accents, color-matched stitching and custom embroidery. The seats were supplied by jetmaker Lear and the shifter is, of course, made by Hurst.

“Alan (Palmer) and his guys do some of the best work my car buddies and I have ever seen,” Dunham said. “That's why I chose them for this job. Everything from absolutely perfect body lines, to custom-built aluminum panels and parts, to paint work that's unmatched, this is no 'looks great from 10 feet away' custom job. And believe me, the first rock chip I get is going to make me weep.”
