Chrysler Group Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne has donated his personal, one-of-a-kind 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 A to cross the block at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach collector-car auction, with all the proceeds benefiting United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

“This is a chance that doesn’t come along very often,” said Beth Paretta, director of marketing and operations for SRT brand and motorsports. “It’s a unique opportunity to own a part of SRT history. Every Challenger SRT is special but this one has an amazing pedigree.”

The Challenger is painted Pitch Black with unique Dark Charcoal racing stripes, lowered suspension, 20-inch matte-black custom wheels and smoked taillights. A Mopar adjustable coil-over suspension kit has been added, as well as a Mopar exhaust system to sharpen the exhaust sound.

The Challenger is powered by a 392 Hemi V8 that generates 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Zero-60 mph sprints range in the high four seconds, with quarter-mile times in the high 12s.

The winning bidder will also get a separate engine, Mopar’s newest Gen III 426 Hemi crate motor, an all-aluminum V8 that lays down 540 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. The winner can do with whatever he or she chooses, although the temptation would be to replace the Challenger's stock engine.

Marchionne, who has become well known during the resurgence of Chrysler Corp. in partnership with Italy’s Fiat, presented his Challenger for one of the many charity sales that have become a hallmark of Barrett-Jackson events, with the auction donating the time with no fees. Last year, Chrysler donated the first new SRT Viper off the assembly line for charity.

Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach runs April 4 through 6 at the South Florida Fairgrounds with live coverage on SPEED TV and SPEED.com. For more information, see Barrett-Jackson.com.
