Cadillac has revealed details for its upcoming Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system, which includes an industry-first fully capacitative touch screen. And in doing so, it’s also revealed more about the interior design, details and trim for the upcoming 2013Cadillac XTS, the new full-size sedan that will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month and slated to go on sale in April.

CUE will debut in the 2013 XTS. Then it's slated to go into the upcoming ATS sport sedan, followed by the SRX crossover and the Volt-based ELR farther down the pipeline.

The design of the XTS’s center stack, which contains a set of capacitative (touch-sensitive) climate controls below the touch- and gesture-sensitive touch screen, was sculpted around the new CUE system, which incorporates both sets of controls under a glossy black lens. With the press of a button, the climate controls slide up to reveal that they’re merely a thin panel, with a rubber-bottomed storage bin just behind, containing up to two liters of stow space.

During the first look at the XTS Concept shown at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show, we saw that the XTS’s center stack looks largely black and blank until it’s powered up. GM’s head-up display will remain available.

Also of note is a new set of steering wheel controls that, similar to MyLincoln Touch, allow you to toggle between dash displays (side to side) and make individual selections (up and down).
Overall, the instrument panel shows a new, more flowing and somewhat softer look. The dash has a layered look overall, with a soft top and stitched detailing and a seam running through the middle.
