What looks like a vintage photo of a 1950s street scene is actually a 1/24th scale model built by artist Paul Smith. (Photo: Paul Smith)
We found some real fine goodies for your edification this week. Take a look:

Electric Leno
Consummate car guy Jay Leno checks out the Chevy Volt in this excellent NBC video, posted on an enthusiast’s website. Check out: Volt by Leno.

Tiny slice of reality
This is an amazing slide show of model vintage cars and period scenes by professional model-builder Paul Smith. Absolutely unbelievable. Or maybe, too believable. Check out: Small World.

Ancient history
An astounding piece of film from 1905 taken from a streetcar rolling down a San Francisco street before the devastating earthquake. Fascinating for us car geeks because of all the early automobiles zooming around in a random, lawless fashion. Check out: Old World.

Sports-car bonanza
An alert reader turned us on to this fabulous site for race fans, sports-car drivers and other disreputable people. Check out: Sports Car Digest.

Beautiful Abandoned Cars
That’s the name of this creative film that shows dozens of exotic cars – Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Corvettes – that were left to rot for whatever reasons. Shown with a piano accompaniment of a haunting Chopin Nocturne. Try not to cry. Check out: Rust in Peace.

Woodies on wheels
This site is dedicated to the ever-popular wood-bodied stations wagons of yore, with lots of stories, photos and brochures. Check out: Woody World.

Penske’s own museum
Here’s a look at Roger Penske’s museum filled with race cars and engines that trace his racing career as driver and team owner, housed at Penske’s spectacular auto-dealership mall in north Scottsdale, Az. Hey, I’ve been there! Check out: Roger's World.
