Barrett-Jackson kicks off its 39th annual Scottsdale collector-car auction Saturday with its first Road Rally and Cruise-In.

The Road Rally will feature about 75 cars, including some of the auction’s top offerings, for a seven-mile run up Scottsdale Road through the heart of downtown. It concludes with the Cruise-In car-show at the Scottsdale Pavilions shopping center, a popular local spot for Saturday night cruise-ins.

The event, which is free and open to the public, emulates the road rallies that kick off Barrett-Jackson’s annual Las Vegas auctions in October, with the cars parading up the Las Vegas strip prior to the event.

The Scottsdale-based Barrett-Jackson Auction Company holds its famed car auction and lifestyle event at WestWorld from Jan. 18 to 24, with about 1,100 cars up for sale at no reserve. SPEED will broadcast 39 hours of live coverage of the event.

"As we enter a brand new decade of bringing car enthusiasts together, we couldn't think of a more appropriate way to kick off the week than with a Road Rally in the city where it all began," said Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson CEO and chairman.

During the Cruise-In at the Pavilions, which is free and open to all collector-car owners, auction president Steve Davis and Gary Bennett, vice president of consignments, will be on hand to meet car enthusiasts, judge entries and present the "Barrett-Jackson Choice Awards."

The Road Rally starts Saturday at 3 p.m. at the SkySong Center in south Scottsdale, with the Cruise-In happening from 4 to 8 p.m.

The addition of the Road Rally and Cruise-In are part of Barrett-Jackson’s ramp up of lifestyle components that enhance its world-famous collector-car auction. The sprawling WestWorld event caters to more than 200,000 onlookers with hundreds of vendors offering everything from custom auto parts and collectibles to fashion and works of fine art.

Barrett-Jackson even boasts its own night club and fashion shows.

"The Scottsdale Auction is constantly evolving and over the years has grown into an event that offers something for the entire family," Davis said. "This year we will jumpstart a brand new season not only with the incredible vehicles that our auctions have become known for, but with the largest number of lifestyle, entertainment and nightlife offerings we've ever provided."
