AUTOS: Barrett-Jackson Collector-Car Auction: Next Stop, Las Vegas
The fifth-annual collector-car auction gears up for the Sept. 20-22 event, with 20 hours of live coverage on SPEED TV.

The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction returns to Las Vegas for its fifth-annual event from Sept. 20-22 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. This year’s auction is expected to bring tens of thousands of visitors, including bidders, consignors and car enthusiasts from around the world to view some of the world’s most-sought-after collectible vehicles.

“Las Vegas is without a doubt a city driven by world-class entertainment, and this year’s auction is no exception,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We’re excited to return to Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino to provide activities for car enthusiasts of all ages and showcase one-of-a-kind collector cars at our fifth annual event.”

SPEED will broadcast 20 hours of live, high-definition television coverage of the auction. The live-coverage hours will be 4 to 9 p.m. PT on Thursday, Sept. 20; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 21; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Top vehicles featured for the fifth-annual Las Vegas auction include:

• 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird two-door hardtop.

• 1967 Shelby GT500 SE Super Snake continuation fastback.

• 1955 Cadillac Series 62 convertible.

• 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 fastback.

• 1954 Kaiser Darrin roadster.

The Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas event will offer a variety of activities for the enitre family to enjoy, such as the authentic Automobilia Auction, Ride ‘N Drives presented by Ford and General Motors, product demonstrations from vendors and sponsors, shopping through the exhibitor showcase, and much more.

Barrett-Jackson will also host events leading up to the world-class auction:

Fifth Annual Las Vegas Cruise-In, Sept. 15

Taking place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the Cruise-In will wrap up the Grand Opening Week of Gaudin Ford’s newest location. Las Vegas automotive enthusiasts are invited to bring their collector vehicles to the Cruise-In, and all makes and models are welcome. Proceeds from food and beverage purchases will directly benefit the Keep Memory Alive Foundation. The event is free and open to the public.

Barrett-Jackson 5th Annual Road Rally, Sept. 19

The Road Rally will showcase a lineup of 80 collectable automobiles from local car clubs and collectors and will travel down the Las Vegas Strip at 2 p.m. The Road Rally will start at Las Vegas Convention Center Gold and finish in the southeast parking lot at Mandalay Bay with a mini car show.
