Fans can get a preview of the world’s largest automotive extravaganza Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a twilight cruise during Food Lion AutoFair Classic Car Night at the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series.
Along ith the world’s best Legend Car and Bandolero racing, more than 100 classic automobiles from 24 area car clubs, including the Queen City Corvette Club, Ford Owner's Association of the Carolinas and Tach Twisters Car Club, will take a trip around the 1.5-mile superspeedway under the lights in front of the Summer Shootout Series crowd. These same clubs, plus many more, will be back at the track Sept. 20-23 for the Food Lion AutoFair.
On Tuesday, fans can enter to win a pair of tickets to the upcoming car show, which will feature a collector car auction, thousands of vendors and up to 1,500 collectible vehicles available for sale in the car corral. Plus, kids can enjoy a huge Powerade Play Zone at the Food Lion AutoFair, which will include bounce houses, interactive games, face painting and appearances by Twiggy, the world-famous water-skiing squirrel.
With the Summer Shootout season more than halfway complete, the championship points battles are intensifying as Legend Car and Bandolero drivers fight for a chance to take home the title for their respective divisions.
The first 1,000 fans through the gate on Tuesday will receive a coupon for free fries from Jack in the Box.
Tickets for the Summer Shootout Series are $7 for adults and free for kids 13 and under.
Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with preliminary action starting at 5:10 p.m. Opening ceremonies are at 7 p.m. and feature races are scheduled to conclude by approximately 10 p.m.
